  • Memorial Day at Colonial Williamsburg — Chapter members joined with Colonial Williamsburg and the SAR to march from the Governor’s Palace to Bruton Parish, then on to the French cemetery to honor those who served and gave their lives for our country.

  • June & December Naturalization Ceremonies — DAR members passed out programs, American Flags, and Flag lapel pins, and assisted with seating. The Colonial Williamsburg Fifes and Drums played before the procession.  Following the ceremony, folders were presented to each new citizen containing a congratulatory letter from the President of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation and the regent of the Williamsburg DAR Chapter.  Also included were DAR brochures for the American’s Creed, the Star-Spangled Banner, George Mason and the Bill of Rights, and the Preamble to the Constitution of the Unite States of America.

  • Commemorative Partners & Constitution Week — Department of Defense recognizes the Williamsburg Chapters as a Commemorative Partner
  • Commemorative Partners & Constitution Week — Twenty–two chapter members volunteered to serve when “The Wall that Heals” came to Williamsburg.
  • Commemorative Partners & Constitution Week — We served by greeting visitors to the exhibit and answering questions. It was a rare opportunity to honor these veterans and remember their sacrifices.
  • DAR American History Award & Veterans Day — The chapter presented this award to William M. Kelso, PhD for his remarkable discovery of the original Jamestown fort of 1607 dispelling the long-held belief that the fort was lost to the James River.

  • Virginia Thanksgiving Festival — We were honored to be asked to volunteer, in 18th Century costume, at the Virginia Thanksgiving Festival held on Sunday, in early November, commemorating America’s First Official English Thanksgiving which was held at Berkeley Hundred on December 4, 1619.
  • Virginia Thanksgiving Festival — We volunteered in early November to help with the 3,000 guests for the First Thanksgiving.
  • Virginia Thanksgiving Festival — The highlight of the day is a religious ceremony.  “We ordain that the day of our ship’s arrival, at the place assigned for plantation, in the land of Virginia, shall be yearly and perpetually kept holy as a day of thanksgiving to Almighty God.”
  • Virginia Thanksgiving Festival — The event closes with a Friendship Dance led by the Chickahominy Tribal Dancers.  A true celebration of Americanism at its best!
